I love working in the old historic houses of Washington, DC. Recently, I installed damask wallpaper befitting this 1890 Queen Anne town home. Queen Anne town houses became popular in DC after the Civil War, and can be found lining the streets of the city’s historic areas like Logan and Dupont Circles. A quirk of this particular home is shared by the White House. “Murphy doors” (doors that are flush with a wall in order to become invisible) can be found throughout the house. I covered those doors with wallpaper to hide them even further. For instance, there are two liquor cabinets in the dining room pictured above. Bet you can’t find them…
